River bank erosion aggravated by fluctuations in water level
Siddharthanagar. People in the villages on the banks are afraid of the erosion caused by the fluctuations in the water level of various rivers in the district, including the Rapti and Budhi Rapti. On Thursday, the water level in Budhi Rapti dropped, so the water level in Rapti began to rise.
During the rainy season, the water levels of the county’s rivers rise and then erosion along the rivers intensifies. This threatened the very existence of many villages. Ramsubhag, Kamlesh and Jairam, residents of Hathivadtal in Fattepur, Jogia, say for fear of erosion that due to the erosion during the rise and fall of the water level of the rivers, the cultivable land and the houses in the river merge.
The villagers suffer greatly from flooding on the one hand and erosion on the other. So far, due to the harvest near the village of Parasohia Sadanand in the Bhanwapur block area, more than 25 bighas of the farmland have been merged in the river. The officials are not interested in solving the problem.
