In Sonbhadra district, about 100 bighas of paddy crop of 23 farmers have been destroyed due to water hyacinth filling in the fields due to flood in Kadiya pond in Semarwar village of Ghorawal Kotwali area in Sonbhadra district. This has damaged the crop. The aggrieved farmers have demanded compensation by drawing the attention of the District Magistrate.Ghoraval BJP Mandal President Arun Pandey, Umashankar Dubey and Dinesh Patel met the farmers and inquired about the loss after getting information about the crop destruction. In Semarwar village in Kadia twenty eight area, the fields of about two dozen farmers of Mahokhar, Purna, Semarwar, Mukha, Karasota and Phulwari are adjacent to Kadia pond. There are a large number of hyacinth plants in the pond. The Kadiya pond started overflowing due to heavy rains in the past.

Due to this a large quantity of water hyacinth entered the fields along with the water of Kadiya pond, causing damage to the standing crop in the fields. 10 bigha of Asha resident of Semarwar, 7.5 bigha of Govardhan Gupta of Mahokhar, 10 bigha of Semarwar Iqbal Ahmed, Rajwan 1.5 bigha of Karsota, 1.5 bigha of Gulzar, 1.5 bigha of Ramzan, 1.5 bigha of Khurshid, 1.5 bigha of Prabhavati, Batswa 1.5 Bigha, 3 bigha of Purna resident Vinod Kumar, 3 bigha of Manoj Kumar including 100 bigha crop of 23 farmers have been damaged. On Friday, the affected farmers met Ghorawal MLA Dr. Anil Kumar Maurya and narrated their agony, on which the MLA assured the farmers of compensation action by talking to the Revenue Department.
