COVID-19: Delhi government frees precautionary doses for people aged 18-59

in the midst of growth cases of coronavirusThe Delhi government on Thursday announced free precautionary supplements for beneficiaries in the age group of 18-59 years. According to a tweet by news agency ANI, free booster doses will be available at all government COVID-19 vaccination centres.

To note, the national capital recorded 1,009 fresh cases on Wednesday, the highest since February 10, according to a health bulletin by the Delhi government. The active cases in the city rose to 2,641, the highest since February 18 when Delhi saw 2,775 active cases. With this, the positivity rate in the national capital reached 5.70 percent.

Apart from this, the Delhi government has also made mask mandatory in public places. LG Anil Baijal took this decision during the DDMA meeting on Wednesday. CM Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and others attended the meeting.

To note, the nationwide vaccination campaign started in January 2021, in which healthcare workers were vaccinated in the first phase. Then, for the frontline workers in February last year. The second phase of the COVID vaccination campaign began on March 1, for people above 60 years of age, while the vaccination campaign for all those above the age of 45 years was launched on April 1, 2021.

The Government of India on May 1 decided to expand the campaign and made it mandatory for all people above the age of 18 to get vaccinated. On January 3 this year, the next phase began with adolescents aged 15-18 years, covid-19 case, Also, a ‘precautionary dose’ is given to healthcare workers, frontline workers, people with co-morbidities and anyone above the age of 18.
