On Friday, preparations for examination, treatment of children were tested in mock drills at BHU and six CHCs regarding preparations to deal with the possible third wave of corona. From the registration of children coming for treatment at health centers to their admission, rehearsal was done for oxygen testing.In all government hospitals of Varanasi including BHU, more than 400 oxygenated pediatric beds are ready for treatment to save children from the third wave. These also include ICU beds. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr VB Singh informed that 30 beds with oxygen and two ICU beds each have been prepared at four community health centers (CHC Cholapur, CHC Araziline, CHC Narpatpur, CHC Gangapur) in the district.

Similarly, 64 beds of Pediatric Oxygen have been prepared in Deendayal out of which 20 ICU beds are ready. Similarly, 44 pediatric beds with oxygen have been prepared in SSPG, in which 12 ICU beds are ready. Similarly, Oxygenated Pediatric and ICU beds of Kovid have been prepared in BHU.

Meanwhile, on the instructions of the government, training programs were conducted at six CHCs including Community Health Center Cholapur, Gangapur Pindra.Additional CMO also monitored the mock drill and gave necessary suggestions. The use of oxygen concentrator in the 30-bed ward, medicines related to the treatment of children at health centers, the system of investigation were evaluated. CMO Dr VB Singh said that after the mock drill, the report will now be submitted to the government by the nodal officers. Further preparations will be made on the basis of the report.

During the mock drill, a dummy Kovid infected child was brought to the doctor through an ambulance through his guardian. According to the Kovid-19 protocol, the child was taken to the ICU bed after preliminary examination on the presumptive bed by the medical personnel. During this, all the standards of treatment were followed by the doctors and medical personnel.
