Gauriganj (Amethi). Communal toilets built in 566-gram panchayats by 682-gram panchayats in the district have been transferred to SHGs. 27-27,000 rupees have also been paid into their accounts for three months at a rate of 9,000 rupees per month for operation on behalf of the department.

The CDO had instructed the officials concerned to select the willing self-help groups for the village. After the construction work was completed, the Panchayat department began operating. RP Singh, district coordinator for the Swachh Bharat Mission, announced that construction in 656-gram panchayats against 682-gram panchayats in the district has been completed.
He said that when construction was completed, 566 communal toilets have been contracted to maintain and operate. On the instructions of the additional chief secretary Panchayatiraj Manoj Kumar, 9,000 rupees per month are to be paid for the operation of each toilet. A three-month advance of 27,000 rupees had been paid to operate 358 toilets, he said. The remaining balance will be paid out this week.

The CDO said payments will be made from the tide fund of the Gram Panchayat’s 15th Financial Commission for the operation of community toilets being built in the villages.
