Shahjahanpur. Democracy defenders of the district celebrated Black Day on Friday in memory of the state of emergency that was declared on that day in 1975 under the rule of Congress. They demonstrated at the Collectorate by raising anti-congressional slogans.
Simultaneously, on behalf of Bharatiya Loktantra Rakshak Senani Samiti, by handing the Prime Minister a memorandum to the Magistrate of the City of Rajesh Kumar calling for anti-democratic laws such as emergency to be included in the curriculum and for others to be fulfilled.
Prior to the demonstration, a meeting held in the committee office in Braj Vihar colony strongly condemned the atrocities committed in public during the state of emergency. The meeting chairman, district president of the committee, Ramesh Chandra Srivastava, said then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had imprisoned all innocent non-congressional leaders by imposing a law such as a state of emergency in order to stay in power. Later, in order to establish the rule of the judiciary, Jai Prakash Narayan started a movement to rid the country of this black law through a total revolution.
Referring to the central government slogan of Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas, the memorandum states that the victims of the plight of democracy have been excluded from this slogan and therefore none of their prayers have been excluded from the government level during the past seven years.
Rakshak fighters for democracy are used to humiliate Congress in the BJP government. So the government should take care of their interests.
