Children Are Not Ready To Study In Private Schools Even Fees Free In Varanasi, Corona Epidemic Is Reason

Even after getting selected to study in private schools of Varanasi district without any cost, 6982 children are not ready to study. Corona epidemic is believed to be the reason for not sending children to school.Under the Right to Education Act (RTE) last year a total of 13,758 candidates were selected in all the phases. While the admission process was completed by 9180 candidates only. At the same time, this year 8709 candidates were selected after two phases. In this, only 6300 completed the process of admission in private schools.

Under this Act, 25 per cent seats in private schools are to be admitted by economically weaker children in class I or pre-primary classes. The education expenses of these children are sent by the government to the accounts of the schools. This rule has to be implemented by all private schools.Five thousand rupees go to the account of parents
Five thousand rupees are sent to the parents’ account for the copy book. Online application forms are invited in three stages for admission under RTE. After verification of documents, the eligible students are allotted private schools in their wards through lottery.

In this context, RTE District Coordinator Vimal Keshari said that due to the corona epidemic, the number of children taking admission has decreased in the last two years as compared to the selected candidates. Parents who have not taken admission can apply in the next RTE process.
