The CBCID has opened an investigation into the attack on the forest and police department team when they removed the encroachment from woodland in the Lilasi Kala village in the police station three years ago. On Saturday ASP reached Dr. Krishna Gopal Singh from CBCID Varanasi visited the village and recorded the testimony of the villagers. He interrogated the villagers and the police station. The occupation of forest areas in the village has been going on for a long time. The villagers had planted huts in the woodland and plowed about three acres of land. In 2018, the then SHO, sub-inspector, police officers and the team from the forestry office tried to clear the land. The inmates attacked the police and the forest office team. Forest personnel, including the then SI Satya Prakash Singh, were injured in falling rocks. The police had made Nandu God the main culprit in this case. The women who occupied the land later complained to the Human Rights Commission that they were harassed by the Forestry and Police Department.
