On Monday morning, the Chaf branch near the old regulator broke off Basantpur. This changed the course of the water flow. All the water in the canal began to fall into the Jharhi River. Suddenly the rice field sown on the banks of the spring drowned due to the arrival of such a large amount of water. At the same time, there is desperation among the farmers who are dependent on the canal and who cultivate rice fields in the highlands. The farmers Shambhu Sharan Singh, Ramayan Yadav, Kripashankar, Awadh Kishore Mishra, Rajesh, Ramavadh etc. say that every year the canal tracks break at this point. The department will have it fixed as soon as the rain stops. But this problem keeps coming back as there is no permanent solution. The farmers demanded the immediate repair of the broken canal and the release of water.
In this regard, Assistant Engineer Dinesh Kumar says the canal’s water was turned off from the head as soon as the information came in. It takes twenty-four hours to completely shut off the water. Repair work can only be started after the water has been turned off.
