Wheat purchases in the district began on April 1. Wheat is bought at 1975 rupees per quintal. Wheat sourcing was slow at first, but later gained some momentum. 112 shopping centers were set up to procure wheat. This time the government failed to meet its wheat-sourcing goal.
Of these, 15 shopping centers were assigned to the food department of the Wheat Procurement Agency, 90 to PCF, three to Mandi Parishad and four to the Food Corporation of India. Of these, procurement is only carried out in 111 shopping centers, while the procurement of wheat in one shopping center has not yet started even after a month has passed. At the same time, the payment of wheat to farmers is still not made within the mandatory 72 hours, despite government orders. So far, 40,649.22 tons of wheat have been procured in 111 shopping centers. So far this wheat has been bought by 10,873 farmers. According to official information, wheat to the value of more than 80.28 crore has been purchased so far. Of this, 51.04 crore has been paid while the remaining payment of 29.23 crore continues. The preparation for this final payment is in the final stages and soon this amount will reach the farmers’ accounts.
