The directorial duo Gayatri and Pushkar, who are currently busy promoting their next film. Vikram Veda, recently spoke about the difference between the Hindi and Tamil version of the film. The original film was released in 2017 and stars R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles, with the same filmmaking duo. The Hindi remake stars Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles. According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the filmmaking duo in a recent interaction with the media assured that they have given a new touch to the remake of the film.
Speaking about the difference and comparison, filmmaker Pushkar said, “Take a drama like Streetcar Named Desire or Death of a Salesman. It has been performed hundreds of times around the world. The text remains the same. But you bring in a new set of actors when a production changes. We approach the idea of doing Vikram Vedha in the same way. The text is the same as we wrote a long time ago. When Saif and Hrithik come on board, they are bringing together an actor and the written word to form a character on screen.”
Filmmaker Gayatri added and said, “We never felt like we were re-enacting a scene. We had a long discussion on the sets about how to do this or that scene. And not once did we think of doing it like before. The soul is the same but it’s completely different”. The Hindi version of the film is set in Lucknow, unlike the Tamil version, which is set in Chennai.
Actor Hrithik Roshan, who plays Vedha in the film, also weighed in on the topic. He said, “Sometimes we used to get stuck in a scene. We wondered how we could go from this pace to that. The movie is already done. We could easily go back to that and see how they did there. And so he did. But it’s not like we’re getting close to him. We were trying to portray Vikram as Saif played him and Vedha played him. In fact, we were building something new, not rebuilding.”
Vikram Vedawhich is a cat and mouse chase thriller between a gangster and a policeman, based on a folk tale vikram betal,
The Hindi version of the film, which is scheduled to be released on September 30, also stars Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf and Yogita Bihani in the lead roles.
