Jai Ho – AR Rahman and The Pussycat Dolls with Nicole Scherzinger
Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny), an English remix of the original Hindi song Jai Ho from the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack, was sung by AR Rahman and American girl group The Pussycat Dolls, and was an international hit! The Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack was a huge success, and AR Rahman won Best Original Score for his soundtrack, as well as Best Original Song for ‘Jai Ho’ at the 81st ST Academic Awards.
If I Get Up – AR Rahman & Dido
The soundtrack for the film 127 Hours was composed by AR Rahman and marked his second collaboration with director Danny Boyle after Slumdog Millionaire. The 127 Hours song ‘If I Rise’ marked the first musical collaboration between AR Rahman and English singer-songwriter Dido. It was also nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Original Song.
Alive – AR Rahman & Karen David
Jag Mundhra’s biographical drama film Provoked starring Aishwarya Rai had music composed by AR Rahman. The film’s haunting theme song, Alive, composed by Rahman, was sung by Karen David.
AR Rahman’s Collaboration With Iggy Azalea, Katie Tunstall, Wale For The Million Dollar Arm Soundtrack
AR Rahman collaborated with Australian music sensation Iggy Azalea for the title track to Million Dollar Arm, starring Jon Hamm. The music for the sports movie Million Dollar Arm was composed by AR Rahman, and Katy Tunstall sang the song ‘We Could Be Kings’, while Vaale collaborated with Raghav and AR Rahman for the song Keep the Hustle.
AR Rahman and Liz Phair for People Like Us
AR Rahman composed the score for People Like Us directed by Alex Kurtzman. The film’s music consists of 18 tracks composed by AR Rahman, one of which, titled Dotted Line, is sung by great indie artist Liz Phair.
Historical remake of We Are the World
Not specifically a collaboration, but AR Rahman was part of the ‘We Are the World 25 for Haiti’ charity anthem, which was recorded in Los Angeles. The song was a new version of the song We Are the World, written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. We Are the World 25 for Haiti was recorded by more than 80 artists, including AR Rahman, Celine Dion, Pink, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, and the Jonas Brothers.
AR Rahman collaborates with ‘We Are the World’ producer Ken Cragen
AR Rahman joined some of the most renowned musicians and artists for a global project called ‘Hands Around the World’ to raise awareness about climate change.
