Ved made a record first week for Marathi films:
Ved, headed by Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh, is doing record business for a Marathi film. The numbers for the first week of the film are more than 500 crores. 20 crores and this is phenomenal. The film has posted higher opening day grosses for six consecutive days and is likely to continue the same trend into the second weekend as well. The first week figure is a record for a Marathi film so far and with such a trend, the number of more than Rs. Worth seeing 50 cr nett. This is a very promising return for both of them after Mr. Mummy, which theatrically turned out to be a huge disaster. The Marathi film audience has always been very loyal to Riteish. Avatar: Paani’s Path to Becoming India’s Highest Grossing Hollywood Film
James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water is a landmark blockbuster in India. It is on its way to becoming the highest grossing Hollywood film in India. However, it saw another major drop in collections. The critical drop may not become a major issue, as the main business for the film has already come in the lucrative Christmas and New Year period. It is James Cameron’s third historical blockbuster in India after Titanic and Avatar (2009). Speaking of the global box office, yesterday it emerged as the highest grossing of 2022, surpassing the collections of Top Gun: Maverick in 20 days. This equates to $1.5 billion and he will soon be joining the $2 billion club. It will be Cameron’s third film and sixth overall to gross more than $2 billion worldwide.

Drishyam 2 will lead the circus in its third week in its eighth week:
Drishyam 2, directed by Ajay Devgn, will be a rare film to play for more than 50 days in India. Pongal and Sankranti continue to dominate the box office going forward:
India will see 4 big launches within a week. After Drishyam 2, finally an Indian film will record a net collection of more than Rs. 15 crores. This Sankranthi/Pongal season has two Tamil movies Varisu and Thunivu and two Telugu movies Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veeraiah which are expected to earn more than Rs. 15 crore nett in India. Usually we don’t see nearly two months at the box office without major releases from India, but this time it happened.
