One of the most common genres being featured on digital platforms these days is crime drama. It’s one of the most popular content categories around the world, and with an undeniable plot and just the right amount of suspense and excitement, a certain show is more likely to gain a dedicated fanbase. Jamtara: Season 2 from director Soumendra Padhi falls into this category. After impressing a huge chunk of the audience with Season 1, the franchise returns with bigger scandals and a bigger story in Part 2.

Like the first season, which revolves around a phishing scam in the Jamtara district, the second installment in the franchise is much the same and more. From the very first scene, Jamtara: Season 2 takes you into the world of crime, fear and arrogance of the criminals involved. This atmosphere allows viewers to connect the first season with the second before introducing new challengers to the group, forcing them to think of more unique ways to win over a now more aware crowd.

The story of Jamtara: Season 2 has evolved over time and has incorporated several other real-life incidents to add more credibility to the show. Kudos to writer Trishant Srivastava for striking the right balance between old and new in the first episode. Production designer Sushil Mishra manages to maintain consistency in the look of the show, while DOP (Director of Photography) Sayak Bhattacharya’s lens effortlessly brings Jamtara’s world to life. Mickey Sharma’s editing is sharp, with some of the transition sequences beautifully rendered.

In acting, actors Amit Sial (Brajesh Bhan), Dibyendu Bhattacharya (Inspector Biswa Pathak), Sparsh Srivastava (Sunny), and Monika Panwar (Doll) impress in Jamtara: Season 2. Going through the first episode, Part 2, this show based into crime looks promising and is still entertaining as part of the Jamtara franchise.
