Revealing the professional secret of her “increased size” in the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder Hollywood actress Natalie Portman said that in order to reach nine inches, she massaged her body and walked on a special “deck” for the film. According to Variety, Portman trained with a pro for about 10 months before and during filming. She built her body and practiced walking on the “deck” for the role of Mighty Thor, who was about 6 feet tall, about 10 inches taller than Portman’s original height.
“I’ve definitely grown taller than I’ve ever been. You’re like, ‘Oh, this must be so different, going through the world like that. As a 5ft 3 woman, I don’t know that I’ll ever be as 6ft character cast, I really enjoyed that people saw me that tall,” he said Black Swan Actor.
However, since it was practically impossible to lengthen the body, said the director of Thor: Love and Thunder along with his crew, developed a new method for Portman to reach the required height for some of the scenes in which she had to walk with her co-stars, Variety reported.
Portman explained that the directors would “build a path” for her that was a few feet “above the ground.” The actor’s co-star, Tessa Thompson, who would reprise her character of Valkyrie in the film, said the special path was called “one deck”.
“We rehearsed the scene, they saw the path, and then they built a path that was about a foot off the ground or whatever, and I just walked on it,” revealed Portman, as reported by Variety. Oscar-winner Portman later explained that the entire process of achieving the required “act” for the film was actually “intense.” She praised her co-star Chris Hemsworth for working “so hard” and doing “some kind of workout” all the time.
“It’s a pretty intense and pretty disciplined lifestyle to get to that look. Chris works so, so hard. Just all the time, every time he has a break, he has to do some kind of workout… It’s also the food and the saunas and ice baths and sleep, all that stuff to make everything look right. It’s a full-time job!” Portman said.
Marvel had announced the title for love and thunder Back in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con, where studio head Kevin Feige revealed Natalie Portman would be returning to the franchise for the first time since Thor: The Dark World. Alongside Portman, other stars include debutants Christian Bale and Russell Crowe, Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista.
Portman returns as Jane Foster, the brilliant astrophysicist and Thor’s ex-girlfriend, but with a twist as Mighty Thor. Mighty Thor will be Jane’s superhero persona, which she transforms into when she possesses Mjolnir, the mystical hammer, Variety reported.
Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to hit theaters on July 8th.
