EXCLUSIVE: Ajay Devgn’s Rudra: The Edge of Darkness Season 2 is on the cards, confirms producer

Earlier this year, Ajay Devgn made his web series debut with Rudra: The Age of Darkness, the Indian adaptation of the British series Luther. Recently, in a conversation with Pinkvilla, the show’s producer, Applause Entertainment CEO Sameer Nair discussed the future of the show. Are you planning to do season 2 of this psychological crime thriller? “Yeah, of course. Actually there is. The original had that too. Another good idea that we’re working on in support of that, as a side thing. So that’s being worked on. We’re all on the move, so I need have a discussion with the forum about this. So let’s cross our fingers,” shared the filmmaker.

Meanwhile, his production house recently completed five years. Sameer Nair says that he has been aware from the beginning that he wants to have as much variety as possible to explore different genres and tell unique stories. “We’ve actually done that when you think about it. We’ve done specific and different things for Bhaukaal, Rudra and now Tension, whether it’s hostages and criminal justice. So it’s been a conscious effort to try to see what else we can do and how we can do things differently,” says Nair.

Sameer Nair on Criminal Justice 4

Meanwhile, we recently reported that Pankaj Tripathi’s Criminal Justice 4 is also on the cards. “Criminal Justice is particularly exciting for us because the original format was a British show called Criminal Justice, then it was remade in the US as The Night Off. We wanted to do The Night Of, so we got the rights and then we did The Night Off. The British (crew) did season 2, which we did, but we brought the character of the lawyer forward, so in a way, we made it our own. No one did season 3 of the show, but we did and it turned out really well. So we’re excited, and now that we’re doing season four, it’s really become original because no one in the world has done that, and no one has come up with a lawyer,” Sameer Nair said.
