Drishyam 2 is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak along with Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. The film is the Hindi remake of the Mohanlal-starring Malayalam film of the same name and a sequel to the 2015 release Drishyam. Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav also have major roles in this film made with around Rs 50-60 crore. According to business tracking website Sacnilk, the film’s gross in India is around Rs 170 crore while its overseas market gross is Rs 33 crore. In this way, the total gross collection was Rs 203 crore.
The first Bollywood film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide this year was ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ which was released on February 25. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film featured Alia Bhatt in a pivotal role while Ajay Devgan had an extended cameo. The film earned around Rs 211 crore worldwide.
‘The Kashmir Files’ was the second Bollywood film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide. The film starring Anupam Kher was released on March 11 and was directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri. The film earned a worldwide gross of Rs 341 crore.
‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, starring Kartik Aaryan, was the third film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide this year. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film earned a worldwide gross of Rs 266 crore. The film opened in theaters on May 20.
The fourth film to cross the world mark of Rs 200 crore was the Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’. Directed by Ayan Mukherjee, the film was released on 9 September and its worldwide gross was around Rs 431 crore.
