
Celebrated Malayalam writer TP Rajeevan passes away: Mohanlal, Mammootty and others remember the literary gem
Noted Malayalam poet, novelist and screenwriter TP Rajeevan passed away today. He was 63 years old. The author was reportedly battling kidney-related problems and was also undergoing treatment. For those who don’t know, the novel Palerimanikyam Oru Pathira Kolapathakam by TP Rajeevan was made into a film by the filmmaker Ranjith of the same name. Along with superstar Mammootty as the lead, Shweta Menon and Maithili also played major roles in the film. His other notable works include KTN Kottur: Ezhuthum Jeevathavam, Kriyashesham, and Kunhali Markar.

TP Rajeevan’s writings were honored with various honours, including the prestigious Kerala Sahitya Akademi award. Saddened by the disappearance of the literary gem, various members of the Malayalam film industry took to their respective social media networks to pay tribute to the late TP Rajeevan. Mammootty, Mohanlal and Shweta Menon expressed their grief through their internet updates.

Actor, director and screenwriter Shankar Ramakrishnan also wrote a touching note on his Instagram: “Dear Rajeevetta, I will always be indebted to you for your unbridled love. Paleri Manikyam started meeting you. How many hours have we spent in unfulfilled dreams? Thanks to KM4… we tried it. your best. I’ll do it one day. Thanks for the Vandevata and related poetry. As you go, we’re traveling in your realms, gems forever. More to flow. Poetry, here’s one Hmm. No farewell. it hurts Urs. Cane.”
