Ayan Mukerji reacts on Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor not being allowed inside Ujjain temple over latter’s ‘eating beef’ remark
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are preparing for the premiere of their long-awaited sci-fi movie Brahmastra. The couple had planned to visit the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain for Sandhya Aarti with director Ayan Mukerji. However, he was not allowed to enter the temple after the Bajrang Dal protested Ranbir’s old “meat-eater” declaration. Reacting to the whole scenario, Ayan expressed disappointment in him and said that he felt bad when this incident happened.
During a press conference in New Delhi, Ayan said that she had gone to Mahakal before the release of the Brahmastra moving poster and that she wanted to return before the release of the film. Both Alia and Ranbir were excited to join him, but seeing the opposition, Ayaan decided to go it alone in search of blessings and energy for the film. He said, “I felt very bad and when I went I felt that they too could come and have their darshan.”
Reciting Brahmastra’s catchphrase ‘The light is coming’, Ayan urged people to spread warmth and positivity as everyone wants it and the whole world needs it too. He said that he has worked hard and that Indian culture will be celebrated in the film. He added that everyone will feel the positivity and the movie will touch everyone’s heart.
Meanwhile, netizens have called for a boycott of Brahmastra over Alia’s statement on nepotism, where she said “if you don’t see me, don’t look at me”. His statement upset many and he decided not to see the film in theaters, as he did in Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, Vijay Deverakonda’s Ligar, Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan and Taapsee Pannu’s Dobara.
Brahmastra stars Shah Rukh Khan, Alia, Ranbir, Mouni Roy, Amitabh Bachchan, and Nagarjuna. It will be released in theaters around the world on September 9.
