Shah Rukh Khan made an exception for Darlings star Alia Bhatt
With such considerable media exposure, it was evident that many questions quickly slammed into the cast on stage, particularly Alia Bhatt, the show’s star. One of the questions she was asked was about becoming a producer for the first time and doing so with none other than Shah Rukh Khan. Revealing what SRK told her at the start of the Darlings’ journey, she said: “Shah Rukh called and said I don’t generally co-produce films but I will for once do it with you. He said we will have a lot of fun and enjoy making the film. He recently saw the film and wrote a message in typical Darling style: ‘Thank you darlings for making this film (plurals are intentional.’”
Alia Bhatt opens up about Darlings being her first production
Discussing becoming a producer, Alia added, “It was a very natural decision. When I saw Jasmeet (Director Jasmeet K Reen) In 2019 I had a busy schedule. But I have a habit of taking a narrative because you never know where a good script might come from. The narration started and it was pretty normal and suddenly it switched gears. I was on the very edge of the seat and it’s rare that I’m surprised with a script, but it happened with Darlings. It came naturally to me that I would also like to be a producer on this film. Gaurav (one of the co-producers) was very supportive and said it was a fantastic idea.”
Darlings comes to Netflix on August 5th.
