Mahamana had sent for the foundation laying, the General Secretary of the Nyotakashi Academic Council, Prof. Ramnarayan Dwivedi says that Mahamana invited Swami Krishnam to lay the foundation stone of Vishwanath temple in the university campus in 1927 at the hands of Goswami Ganeshdas. It took Ganeshadasa four years to convince the ascetic Krishnam. The foundation stone of the temple was laid on 11 March 1931 by Swami Krishnam.

Birla had promised for the construction of the temple, industrialist Jugal Kishore Birla had promised Mahamana for the construction of the temple and fulfilled it. By 1954, the construction of the temple was completed except for the summit. On the day of Mahashivratri on 17 February 1958, Lord Vishwanath was established in the temple with the life of Narmadeshwar Banalinga in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The blue print of the temple is preserved in Bharat Kala Bhavan.
