John Abraham’s action-packed thriller, Attack, which sees him playing the role of a super soldier, has had a sluggish start at the box office. As per estimates, the film has collected in the range of Rupee. 2.85 to 3.15 crorewhich is below the orthodox prediction Rupee. 50 million plus one day.
Nothing worked in favor of the film on the first day as it remained flat throughout the day. Given the slow start, one expected Attack to move towards evening and night shows, but the film refused to show any jump across the board – be it single screen or multiplex. An action film should have got off to a better start but now the film needs to show miraculous trends over the weekend to get a chance to save itself from an all-out disaster.
The first step for Attack would be to go beyond the lifetime collections of John Abraham’s last two films, Mumbai Saga and Satyamev Jayate 2, and only then would one talk about it going above Rs. 20 crore net mark. The growth on Saturday and Sunday will give a positive sign, but we are living in a time when a good film starts showing signs from Friday evening itself. But that hasn’t happened, indicating bleak days for the box office attack.
The opening is more or less similar to the previous two John films – Mumbai Saga and Satyamev Jayate 2. On the other hand there was some interest in the attack due to the scintillating performance of the action in the promo. Will be interesting to see the path of attack on Saturday and Sunday
