
Anne Heche’s police investigation ceases after the actress was pronounced brain dead
On Saturday, the Los Angeles Police Department announced in a statement to Page Six that they would no longer be continuing their investigation into the horrific car accident that led to the tragic death of Anne Heche. Earlier on Friday, it was confirmed that the actress was declared brain dead and was only put on life support due to her desire to donate her organs upon death.
In the statement, the LAPD clarified: “As of today, no further investigative efforts will be conducted in this case. Any information or records requested prior to this turn of events will still be collected as they settle formalities. and is involved in the overall case.” He further explained, “When a person suspected of a crime dies, we are not present to present the consideration.” It was previously reported that the case had turned into a serious DUI after a woman came forward claiming that Heche’s accident caused injuries at her home.
However, the police later clarified that the investigation had been treated as a “preliminary” offense only and pending further toxicology results. After the results came out, it was revealed that Heche tested positive for cocaine in his system. A rep for the actress announced shortly after that Heche “is not expected to survive” as she “suffered from severe anoxic brain injury.” After the update, Heche never regained consciousness and was later declared brain dead. Her rep released a statement saying: “We have lost a bright light, a kinder, happier soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend. Anne will be sorely missed, but she lives on through her beautiful children, her iconic body work. and her passionate advocacy. Her courage to always be in the truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance will have a lasting impact.”
