The corona epidemic has also changed the attitudes of the villagers, which was reflected in the Panchayat elections. The villagers have risen above the caste community and handed over command of the village to the educated and the youth. A living example of this is the village of Kheda. The villagers, popularly known as the soldiers’ village, trusted the 26-year-old Vandana and made him responsible for the head.
Village Kheda is a large gram of Panchayat with a population of about 10 thousand. Vandana, who became boss from here, has no connection with politics. Even after that, she was chosen in her first attempt. Husband Kapil Som works as General Assembly (Information Technology) at BPSL JSW Odisha. Pradhan Vandana said that his first priority is to prevent the corona from spreading in the village. So far, a dozen people have been infected in the village. Many died. Currently the focus is only on providing better health services. The streets and ponds are cleaned in the village. After that, Pucca houses will be built for poor families living in Kutcha houses. Sports are organized for children. Their health is taken care of. The degree college is being built in the village. There are also plans to connect young people with self-employment.
