We saw many Bollywood films releasing in theaters amid pandemic restrictions, however, only a few films such as Ultimate, Sooryavanshi, Atrangi Re and the recent Gangubai Kathiawadi managed to earn at the box office. When Bollywood was struggling to revive theatres, Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Pushpa was a smash hit at the box office, turning it into the highest-grossing film of 2021. When Akshay Kumar was asked if films from the south were posing a threat to Hindi films, the Bachchan Pandey actor wished that every film works at the box office. “All kinds of films work, be it content cinema, mass cinema and if there is a combination of mass films with content, then it is like Sone Pe Suhaga. So, all films are working. See Gangubai Kathiawadi How is release and it is working. Industry has suffered a lot in last two and half years due to pandemic. So many people’s movies are stuck and interest is increasing. My own film Sooryavanshi was ready but one and half year It got released only after that. So let’s not analyze too much. I hope people go out and watch the movies. This is important for us. Akshay is known to release 3-4 films in a year. He has also completed shooting for his upcoming films like Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Bachchan Pandey and Mission Cinderella. Asked about back-to-back threatening releases, Akshay said that he does not work for money but for passion. “People often tell me how I manage to do so many films in a year. I wonder how one can’t work every day. As a kid, I had to wake up early, go to school, come back, Was taught to do homework, play and sleep for a while. I still follow the same routine. I choose to go to work in the morning and take a break on Sundays (to spend time with family). If you continue working everyday If you keep it, then easily you have many films in the pipeline. Everyone was working in the pandemic, including policemen, media photographers and others. Everyone has to earn money,” he said.
