Naraini. 30 families in Mahamine Purva in Katra Kalinjar, MP’s adopted village that has achieved model village status, have been without electricity for six years. The electricity department drew the line by spending several hundred rupees. Transformers were installed, but there was not enough electricity. As a result, the nights of these families living in the forest run in the dark.
Villagers say electricity was only available for a week after the MP inaugurated electrification. Thereafter, the supply has not yet started. Efforts are being made to equip the historic Kalinjar Fort with world class facilities to attract tourists from across the country and abroad, but the village of Katra Kalinjar below is neglected. Former MP Bhairon Prasad Mishra adopted this village about seven years ago. A full design was made to create a model village. Work began on various projects including roads, water, electricity, PM-CM apartments, clean toilets. The MP also donated money from his fund to development work, but Mahamine Purva’s condition did not improve.
The amount was released from the Fund for electrification in this village by Mishra, a member of parliament. The supply took place by pulling the line from Satna Marg to Purva, two kilometers away. Since the MP’s inauguration, the villagers have received electricity for almost a week, after which the electricity has not yet come. Villagers expressed anger that transformers and wires have become showpieces. It’s been six years, there is no electricity. It is alleged that there was a demand of Rs on behalf of connecting the electricity. The villagers have warned of excitement if electricity is not available soon.
Complaints have been lodged with senior officials many times, including the Executive Engineer, SDO, Junior Engineer of the Electricity Department. Each time the officer gives an assurance that delivery will start in a week. Years passed with the help of this trust, but 30 Purva families could not get electricity.
– Rajendra Kumar, head of the village
MP said it will seek responses from the electricity department
Naraini. Rep. RK Singh Patel said a letter would be sent to the department asking for a response. Supplies to the villagers will be restored with the system repaired soon. On the other hand, SDO Vaibhav Shukla said that he did not know the reason for this. Will solve the problem. He denied the charge of demanding Rs. At the same time it was also said that if a private person asked for money, action should be taken against the affected villager. (Conversation)
