Meerut Amid rising corona infection, around 250 underserved prisoners from Chaudhary Charan Singh District Prison are being released on two-month bail. While 70 convicted prisoners received two months probation. The prison administration works on the instructions of the High Power Committee. This process will begin soon.
The county jail currently has around 2,600 inmates, which is more than capacity. The number of detainees considered is 2,100 and the number of convicted prisoners is 500. In view of the corona infection, it was decided to reduce the number of people detained. A court hearing will begin today on the detainees’ bail. At the same time, the details of the sentenced prisoners were sent to the government.
Lower court
The underserved prisoners are released on a court order on two months’ bail, which can result in a maximum sentence of seven years, while the convicted prisoners receive a two-month suspended sentence on government orders. It has tagged prisoners who have been sentenced to seven years or are over 65 years old.
The details have been prepared according to the guidelines of the High Power Committee. In the district, 250 considered and 70 convicts were included in this category.
