Kanpur Dehat / Rajpur. Even after six months of government funding, half the city and three other villages of Rajpur still have a drinking water crisis. A budget of Rs 3.69 crore was received last December. The water tank could not be built even after six months. In such a situation, 20,000 people face water scarcity.
As part of the Village Group Drinking Water Scheme, a water tank was built in the city of Rajpur in 1980. The drinking water supply was impaired after the pipe well was damaged in 1995. In 2018, the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Ajit Singh Pal, who campaigned for the supply of drinking water in a city of 20,000 inhabitants, sent a proposal to approve the funds under the drinking water reorganization program.
Last December, faced with the problem besides the tank and underground pipeline, the government approved and cleared a Rs 3.69 billion budget for drilling two pipe wells. The program aims to provide pure drinking water to Badanpur, including the city of Rajpur and the nearby villages of Jainpur, Pailawar. The drilling of the pump house has been completed in two places.
At the same time, work on laying 18 km of pipeline versus 22 was completed. The pump house is currently being built in front of the police station. The construction of a water tank with a capacity of 500 KL is carried out near the pump no. Apart from the foundation, pillars up to a height of 2.50 m were erected. Construction work has been going on for about a month.
High-voltage lines became an obstacle in tank construction
A water tank is being built in pump house number two in front of the block office. The high voltage line came out at a height of 10 feet. This line has to be shifted. Even after receiving the money, the electricity department does not kill the lines. For this reason, the construction work was suspended for a month. It does not solve people’s problems. People have asked for immediate action.
