13 blocks will have a Wi-Fi facility
Padrauna (Kushinagar). As part of the Digital India project, the goal is to connect 13 blocks of the district to Wi-Fi by December. Phase 2 of this project will begin in 2018. In the first phase, however, the cable-laying works in 65 villages of the Kaptanganj block were completed. At the same time, cables were laid in the remaining thirteen blocks, with the exception of a few blocks, to the villages of most of the blocks.
The Digital India project is one of the ambitious plans of the Indian government to connect the Panchayat Bhawan of every village in the district with WiFi. So that the Panchayat buildings of the village can also be activated as public service centers and the villagers do not have to go to the market or town for any kind of application. Phase 1 of this program started in 2014. Then only one block of the Kushinagar district was selected for it. Department officials say the Kaptanganj Block was selected in Phase I and the cable-laying there has been completed. ONTs (Optical Network Terminals) were installed in 65 villages.
The second phase started in 2018. This includes villages from 13 blocks of the district. However, work in these blocks is still ongoing. Cable-laying work has been completed in 65 villages in the Dudahi block, 35 villages in the Severhi, 14 in the Ramkola, 16 in the Kasaya, 17 in the Tamkuhi and 18 in the Padrauna block. The laying of cables is still being worked on in the remaining blocks and villages. The aim is to complete this work by December.
Delay in establishing a WiFi connection for these reasons
According to the ministry, the main reason is the time of the corona infection. During the transition and the resulting lockdown, workers were afraid to come to work, which delayed work. In addition, the NOK of the railways is obliged to run the cable from one side of the railway line running through the center of the district for which correspondence was conducted.
Where the Panchayat building is not in good shape, community schools are added.
According to the department, the Digital India project requires Panchayat buildings in villages to be connected to Wi-Fi, but many Panchayat buildings are in a state of disrepair or are located within the village. The villagers do not agree to bring the cables there. For this reason, in some places, instead of Panchayat buildings, work is being done to connect Anganwadi centers or community schools. Because with the presence of teachers or staff on site, the WLAN devices are also secure and are also looked after.
As part of the Digital India project, every village in the Kushinagar district will also be equipped with WiFi. In the first phase, cable-laying work was completed in 65 villages in the Kaptanganj block. While work on the remaining 13 blocks is in progress in the second phase. Many Panchayat buildings are in poor shape. Therefore, cables are laid to the Anganwadi Center or the community school to protect and maintain the equipment. The aim is to complete this work by December. Then the connection to the WLAN is made by BBNL (Bharat Broadband Network Limited). This is also the notified body. On this side, BSNL has the task of laying ONT cables in the ground.
