1238 Were To Be Built, Only 813 Community Toilets Were Built

1238 community toilets were to be built in the district in a year, but only 813 have been built. The government has made a provision of Rs 86 crore 66 lakh for the construction of community toilets. The Panchayat Raj Department says that a date has been fixed till September 30 to complete the construction of the remaining 425 community toilets.
Community toilets are divided into two categories. In this, the cost of four seater is 5 lakh 71 thousand, the cost of six seater is 7 lakh 51 thousand. At the same time, the situation is that even the foundation of many such community toilets has not been dug for construction. While there are some whose construction work is half-completed. Even after spending crores of rupees under the government’s top priority Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the implementation of the scheme is not being done properly. Villagers say that there are many such panchayats where those responsible for its construction do not want to take any special interest.
The exercise to construct community toilets in every gram sabha was started last year. The State Government has given the responsibility of maintaining and maintaining cleanliness in the community toilets to the Women Self Help Groups formed in the State Rural Livelihood Mission. These women self-help groups will be provided the prescribed amount on a monthly basis. One lady care taker will also be appointed in every village. Which will be given a monthly honorarium of Rs. These women care takers will also have the responsibility of maintenance of toilets. Three thousand rupees will be given extra for which maintenance material etc.
In Gram Panchayats where the construction of community toilets is yet to be completed. Their construction completion date has been extended till 30 September.
